MAD DUBZ, a.ka, Tom Clifton hails from the UK and currently lives in Guildford. He has always been interested in music but started producing back in 2016 after watching tons of Virtual Riot streams.

He’s such a pro at playing the Guitar and Piano but has since taken an extensive break from playing these musical instruments. He sings, and his voice can be heard on some of his past songs. He doesn’t plan to stop singing anytime soon. Meeting new people is a great motivation to continue pursuing music and the feeling MAD DUBZ gets from creating his favorite songs keeps him going. Watching his career grow and knowing that it’ll unlock new opportunities is also a motivating factor that keeps him focused on his music.

He broke into the music industry when he uploaded his clips which showcased his talent and exposed him to a large number of people who he believes helped him grow massively. MVRDA, AWEMINUS, SYZY, JUB, NEONIX, and MASTER ERROR are his biggest inspirations. MAD DUBZ’s sound has remained consistent over time. His musical growth can be seen in the technical ability of his songs which has led to the creation of more complex sounds.

His music style used to be very quarter-note riddim with a simple but effective idea; now, he’s implementing the old-school riddim styles with more technical ways that sound more vibrant. He gets inspiration for his music by listening to a lot of songs then he produces the flow of a song in his head before going into actual technical production. Other music ideas come from doing a lot of sound design. He describes the tone of the music he produces as “energetic with a lot of rhythm involved”.

Some of his music isn’t technically complex or in your face, some of it can be quite aggressive but it definitely works for him. His memorable career moments were: when his first song got played– it was a gamechanging moment that really opened his eyes to the beauty and reach of music; playing his first ever show at Rampage Open Air and seeing the crowd enjoying his music was a feeling that cannot be described.

His biggest releases are: LUVLEE–Halcyon Enchanted Vol.1, Wheel up with Phonon–Cyclops recordings, Crimson Crater with akeos–bassrush, and his debut EP on Halcyon, the WACKY EP.

MAD DUBZ plans to consistently put out music, increase his standard of production, improve his Spotify, perform at many shows and hopes to become an established much-talked-about artist in 2023.
