// Biography

We are in the year 2012 — while some people's minds were consumed with thoughts of the apocalypse, a young man was discovering an entirely new world as he immersed himself in Cologne's Drum & Bass scene and fell under the spell of the music. That man is Jan Rebensburg, known to visitors of Cologne's bass music parties under the alias Rebko. Swept away by the heavy, incomparable sound, it was only a matter of time before the casual partygoer became a convinced DJ: in 2013 he stepped behind the decks for the first time, proving his skills at numerous local events. He quickly realised, however, that he wanted to expand his main commitment into a completely new event concept. He became co-founder of the event series Drop That, has resided there since the first party in January 2014, and in the years that followed seized the opportunity to play at larger events — including Nature One, Nibirii and the Outlook Festival — supporting a wide range of scene heavyweights, among them Andy C, Wilkinson, Metrik, A.M.C and Friction. 2020 then marked the next step into production: Rebko used the lockdowns and event bans during the Covid-19 pandemic to create his first original works in Ableton. At the beginning of November 2021 he recorded his first release, "Turn Of(f) The Time," together with Cologne veteran Jaycut, on the latter's label Play Recordings. Rebko has drawn his motivation since day one from the support of the Cologne scene, the energy of the music, and the constant drive to raise the bar a little higher each time. Variety plays an important role: while some artists dedicate themselves exclusively to one particular subgenre, Rebko skillfully connects different styles — with a considered combination of rolling neurofunk, dreamy liquid and dancefloor sound, he consistently delivers his audience a diverse, mood-fitting mix.
