The year is 2012 – while some people are caught up in doomsday moods, a whole new world is opening up for a young man as he dives into the Cologne drum & bass scene and falls under the spell of the music.

We’re talking about Jan Rebensburg, who should be known to visitors of Cologne bass music parties under the alias Rebko.

Swept away by the heavy, unparalleled sound, it’s only a matter of time before the pure partygoer becomes a dedicated DJ: in 2013, he stands behind the decks for the first time and proves his skills at countless local events.

However, he quickly realizes that he wants to expand his main focus to a completely new event.

He becomes co-founder of the event series DropThat, has been part of it since the very first party in January 2014, and in the years that follow, seizes the opportunity to perform at larger events – including Nature One, Nibirii, and the Outlook Festival – supporting a wide range of scene heavyweights such as Andy C, Wilkinson, Metrik, A.M.C, and Friction.

In 2020, the next step follows into the realm of music production: lockdowns and event bans due to the COVID-19 pandemic give Rebko the opportunity to create his first own works in Ableton.

In early November 2021, he lands his first release, "Turn Of(f) The Time", together with Cologne veteran Jaycut, on his label Play Recordings.

Rebko has drawn his motivation from day one from the support of the Cologne scene, the energy of the music, and the constant drive to raise the bar higher each time.

Versatility plays a major role: while some musicians dedicate themselves strictly to a specific subgenre, Rebko skillfully combines different styles. With a deliberate blend of rolling neurofunk, dreamy liquid, and dancefloor sound, he consistently delivers a diverse mix tailored to the mood of the moment.
